Tunde Owolabi was born in Lagos Nigeria.
He obtained a degree in graphic design from Yaba college of technology in Lagos after leaving behind his initial dream of becoming a doctor. He studied under the tutorship of Professor Abayomi Barber, a renowned and respected Nigerian artist while in the university of Lagos from 1996 - 1999. After His degree, Tunde settled for being a freelance artist. During his exploration, he developed keen interest in photography, and was inspired by some Nigerian top photographers which include Uche James Iroha, Kelech Amadi Obi, Jide Adeniyi Jones, to mention a few.In 2003, Tunde formed a group of artist, called XPRESSO 'THE QUARTET'. This group is made up four artists, and together they had 2 successful group exhibitions titled: Lines and Colours in 2003, Inner Thoughts at the Nimbus African art centre in 2004. He also participated in the Guinness group exhibition 'WORKING WITH COMMUNITIES' at the Harlequin gallery Lagos in 2004, and 'Gods of this age' at the Didi Museum also in Lagos. Tunde has a few commission works in homes and cooperate places, which include the former National Bank, Hungarian embassy, etc.
He moved to London to further broaden his scope, and to learn more, developing his artistic ideas visually through photography and Fine art. Tunde worked in research studios London with Neville Brody. He just finished his study at the university of the arts. African Elegance is his first solo exhibition.
